What should you know before planning a smart home?

01How much does a smart-home system cost?
The cost depends mainly on the property size, required functions, project stage, existing wiring and the chosen wired, wireless or hybrid architecture. Once we understand the requirements and constraints, we prepare a solution concept and quotation.

Ideally, during the concept stage and before walls close or electrical and HVAC installation begins. We also work on renovations and finished properties, but early involvement makes it easier to coordinate wiring, distribution boards and equipment.
03Can an existing home be automated without major renovation?
The options depend on the existing installation and required scope. After an assessment, we can reuse suitable wiring and equipment and introduce wireless or hybrid solutions where appropriate. Work can also be divided into stages to limit disruption and unnecessary replacement.
04Will the smart home work without an internet connection?
Not every function needs to depend on the internet. With a suitable architecture, essential functions and local control can continue without a connection. Remote access, notifications and selected cloud services may still require internet access; we explain those dependencies when selecting the system.
05How do you select the right system and manufacturer?
We do not begin with a brand. We assess the building, required functions, existing infrastructure, reliability expectations, budget and future expansion. We work with systems including i3 Engineering, Ampio, Loxone, Aqara, Ajax and Home Assistant, combining technologies through suitable gateways where useful.
06What documentation will I receive?
Documentation is adapted to the agreed project scope. It may include the system concept, component specification, wiring requirements, integration diagrams and handover information needed to operate, service and expand the installation.
07What support is available after commissioning?
At handover, we train users and provide the agreed documentation. We can subsequently diagnose issues, service, optimise and expand the installation. The precise ongoing-support scope is agreed individually for each project.
